AT&T calls for VDSL interoperability standards
Interoperability standards are needed to simplify installation and enable customers to do it themselves, according to an AT&T Labs spokesman. AT&T also has submitted a request to secure a patent for a low-loss splitter. EE Times (2/28)

Verizon widens 50 Mbps footprint
Verizon Communications has increased the speed of its FiOS Internet service to 50 Mbps in parts of five counties around the Tampa, Fla., area. The 50 Mbps service tier is now available in six of the 16 states where FiOS is offered. CED Magazine (2/2007)

Sprint expects subscriber gains in the second quarter
Sprint Nextel posted a 6% increase in revenue during the fourth quarter and added 1.3 million net new customers, although it lost 306,000 postpaid subscribers. BFTV expands reach

Judge puts Qualcomm-Nokia patent trial on hold
Qualcomm's claims that Nokia violated some of its wireless-technology patents will have to wait to be heard by the International Trade Commission, after an administrative law judge postponed the case. One analyst speculates the proceedings, set to start Monday, are being delayed to give the two sides more time to hammer out an agreement. AT&T rolling out video services

EA, iVillage team up on games for women
Electronic Arts has joined forces with NBC Universal's iVillage to offer a co-branded online games channel for women. The games channel on female-oriented iVillage will feature casual games from EA's Pogo.com. The Hollywood Reporter (2/28)
