Congress approved S. 1492, the “Broadband Data Improvement Act.” The legislation updates the FCC’s broadband data collection standards and authorizes the Department of Commerce to undertake a program of public/private partnerships to increase broadband deployment and adoption.

Background: Yesterday, AT&T submitted a filing to the FCC urging the agency to act on the issue of intercarrier compensation. In the filing, AT&T made a broad argument outlining the need for prompt action on the issue and also put forth a proposal of its own for reform of the current intercarrier compensation regime.
