After failing to reach a compromise on payment terms, Qwest Communications on Tuesday shut down SkyWi's six-state wireless Internet and phone services. In November, Qwest issued a written warning to the telecom reseller because it had not paid it bills. SkyWi, whose 13,000 Internet and 5,000 phone subscribers are largely based in New Mexico, had gone to court to try to avoid the closure. After the shutdown, New Mexico regulators issued an order calling for Qwest to restore the service in the state.
