• Sources: Dobson Communications mulls sale
  Insiders tell The Wall Street Journal that rural wireless carrier Dobson Communications, which operates under the Cellular One brand, is considering the sale of the company, among other strategic options. Dobson itself has expanded by acquiring other, smaller operators. The Wall Street Journal (subscription required) (6/25)

• AT&T rolls U-verse into parts of northeast Ohio
  AT&T's U-verse TV service will make its debut in some areas of northeast Ohio, as well as parts of the Cleveland area. AT&T will compete primarily with Time Warner Cable in Ohio. Akron Beacon Journal (Ohio) (6/25)

• Amp'd stays afloat
  Verizon Wireless will allow Amp'd Mobile to use its network while it goes through bankruptcy proceedings, under the terms of a new deal that will also see an end to a lawsuit Amp'd filed against Verizon. Neither company commented on the pact. Houston Chronicle/Associated Press (6/22)

• Goldman Sachs to sell its stake in S. Korean cable operator
  The Maeil Business Newspaper wrote that Goldman Sachs will sell its 30.48% stake in South Korean cable operator C&M. Goldman Sachs' stake is valued at $970 million, and the newspaper said the auction closed Thursday. The Washington Post/Reuters (6/24)

• Gephardt joining Embarq board

• Boingo introduces worldwide Wi-Fi flat-rate plan
  Wi-Fi hot spot aggregator Boingo Wireless has announced what it says is the first worldwide flat-rate access plan for Wi-Fi hot spots. The company offers a common log-on process at more 100,000 hot spots around the world. Unlimited access through Boingo Wi-Fi locations (which are actually owned by companies such as EarthLink, Verizon Communications, BT Group, Sprint Nextel and Telecom Italia) will cost $39 a month. • Portugal Telecom launches "meo" service with Alcatel-Lucent
  PT Comunicacoes announced plans to use IPTV equipment from Alcatel-Lucent. The IPTV service, called "meo," was launched this month and includes VOD and HD offerings, as well as PVR functionality. Converge! Network Digest (6/22)

• New EU roaming regulations take effect June 30
  The European Commission has confirmed that new price caps on mobile roaming tariffs will take effect at the end of this month. The regulations affect roaming rates in all EU member states and sets a maximum limit of EUR 0.49 per minute excluding VAT for calls made and EUR 0.24 for calls received. • French government to sell part of its stake in France Telecom
