Tessco 3Q profits slump

Tessco Technologies Inc. reported third-quarter net income of $1.5 million or 29 cents per share, down nearly 17 percent from $1.8 million or 31 cents during the same quarter a year ago.

Hunt Valley-based Tessco (NASDAQ: TESS), which provides products for wireless systems, saw revenue increase slightly to $135.7 million, up from $134.7 million during the third quarter of 2007.

Tessco reported revenue of $69.3 million, nearly a 6 percent increase, in its mobile devices and accessories division. Installation, test and maintenance services saw revenue total $21.9 million, a 10 percent increase from the same quarter in 2007.

For the fiscal year 2008, the company is expecting earnings of between 63 cents to 73 cents per share.

"We believe we are in a solid position to prevail in a weak market, and to achieve accelerated revenue and profit growth when the economy strengthens," CEO Robert B. Barnhill said in a news release.
