Dell have unveiled two custom laptop designs courtesy of artist Mike Ming.  The special editions - called Sea Sky and Bunch O Surfers - are based on the Inspiron 1525.  As such, they’re budget models despite the glossy case graphics, albeit budget models with 3GB of RAM as standard, a minimum of 160GB hard-drive and a choice of Intel Core Duo and Core 2 Duo processors.

The range starts at $699 for the basic “Mike Ming Edition”, which packs a 1.73GHz Core Duo processor, 15.4-inch glossy display, Intel X3100 graphics and b/g WiFi.  Alternatively there’s the $799 “Mike Ming Extreme Edition”, which upgrades to a 1.83GHz Core 2 Duo and 320GB hard-drive.  Both versions have the same 1280 x 800 display and run Windows Vista Home Premium edition.

Both of the designs are available for each model of notebook.  The Mike Ming versions are available direct from Dell now.

Don’t send these in for repair kids - they might get scrubbed clean.
